Making Tissue Foil Paper
I wasn't sure where to post this.
A friend asked me, how I made my tissue foil paper, & if I would make a video showing the steps.
So here it is if anyone is interested, I hope it helps.
Main ingredients: cutting board, razor blade, roll of foil, plastic tube,
tissue paper, spray adhesive, straight edge, newspaper.

Dear Matthew, I´ve splitted this topic into a new one.
Does your paper turn out square after the process shown in the video? I haven´t seen that you make any landmarks to cut it precisely.
Maybe someone has a different method of making tissue foil and would like to show it too? I think that would be interesting.

Two weeks ago I have had the chance to record a video of Christian making tissue foil. Instead of taking spray adhesive he is using some kind of wallpaper glue. The finished paper is better to fold than tissue foil made with spray adhesive, and holds its shape very well.
Christian has written a very interesting article on his website - unfortunately only in German, but there are a lot of pictures to show what is meant. It´s in the Know-How-Section: http://freenet-homepage.de/origamichris/
There you can also download the video, or you watch it here:

The stencil he uses was very cheap. It is made from thin wood (3mm) that he let cut square in a building center.
Sorry that the video ends up a little bit too soon, but my memory card was full...
Oh, after being ready he has cleaned up the table with the cheapest window cleansing agent he could find in the supermarket

According to the pictures, it's a wallpaper paste from Decotric, a German home improvement glue/paint/goop company. I haven't seen it in the US, but there's probably equivalent adhesives that will work the same way. What you need to look for is an adhesive that will bond both to porous and nonporous materials. Some wallpaper pastes (eg Henkel's Metylan Normal) work only with porous materials, so while they'll work nicely for wetfolding/backcoating, they'll be useless in making tissue foil (it won't stick to the metal).

I quote my webpageThe problem is, I was never able to cut them into a nice perfect squares.
What methods, do people use to cut their foils so evenly?
it's "only" in german, but you will surely understand the pictures without the words:

Thanks chris,
i just used an online translator to translate your whole site into english. Your way probally works well for people like me whose only cutting tools compose of a straight edge and a cutter. I'll try it soon.
Another question though,
the biggest foil i can fnd around is 18 inches, which is approximately 45 cm. For complex models, would it work fine? in many sites, the paper size they use even goes up to 50-70cm. Or do i have to find bigger foils somehow.
