Schizoid personality disorder

Post by 94JED »

Before the site Admins delete this post I'd likeot say I DO FOLD ORIGAMI AND I AM A CONSTANT READER OF THE FORUMS. haha
Well, I don't want to make myself look like a person suffering from Munchhausen Syndrome, but I think I might have a Shizoid Personlity Disorder. I am not looking for any help because I dont wan't any. I just wanted a some other point of view, someone that won't put feelings to the opinion.
Ok, So you have an idea of how I am i tell you this, I am an introverted narcissist that feels NO need for social interactions. When I said I was a narcissist I meant I was a COMPLETE narcissist. I can go any laps of time without i-t-e-r-c-o-u-r-s-e. I keep my emotions to myself and think everyone is inferior to me. I can count my friends with one hand, and I really consider them more of "classmates" than friends. Besides they don't even know me, I tell them lies all the time. If there is a group work at school I would rather do it alone than to be with mt classmates.
And onelast thing, i don't drink alchohol, do drugs, nor self-injure myself. Though I am a nightperson (Go to sleep at 5 or 6 AM and wake up at 12PM)

Thats about it. I repeat, I'm NOT looking for attention.
And please, don't delete this topic

i can count my "best" friends on one hand. but i hang out with lotsa people... its fun.

I prefer that too.... i hate group work. i work faster and better alone. i find it a pain unless it's a fun assignment.

Yeah.... if i was you, i would be bored out of my mind, thats my guess for you posting this?

You remind me of Shrek. Have you seen that movie? lol... the ogre who doesnt like people and doesnt want friends xD Overall i think you are completely bored, and spend time on the internet to entertain you? Maybe you should find someone that has stuff in common with you and then you can get along and you would 'want' to hang out with that person. I think friends are important to have though... but im sure you're probly a pretty cool person.

94JED, As Ragnorax said, most of those traits are things that many people share, me included. However, that fact that you said you have no need for social interaction, think of yourself as superior to everyone else, and that you lie to your classmates constantly, throws me off. I have only a little bit of knowledge of psychology, so I don't want to make any assumptions.

Generally self-diagnoses are inaccurate. If you want a real answer to your question, you need to get yourself evaluated IN PERSON by a professional psychologist. SPD sometimes leads to full-blown schizophrenia, so diagnosis and treatment are more important than you might think.

I should add that it's nearly impossible to do a proper evaluation remotely as well, so we can't really give you any meaningful information. Your parents or school should be able to set up an appointment with a counselor or psychologist, and given that you're worried enough to post here, I think that'd be a good idea.

Even if we were all psychologists, we wouldn't be able to answer your question.
My very humble opinion is that you'd be best off not worrying about whether or not your personality is "normal," but instead just do things make you feel better (wholesome things only, obviously :P). For me, one of these things is origami, and since you're a member of this forum it's probably the same for you. Also, go to origami conventions and folding groups. I don't care what you think right now - everyone needs friends. Origamists are some of the nicest yet most introverted people you'll meet, and if you already like folding, you should definitely get involved in the community.
As an introverted teenager, I think that's the best advice I can give you. Good luck.

THe question is, do you want to be more social? If you do, then you probably should find more folders in your area. if not... maybe, but probably not schizoid disorder. I do recommend seeing a psychologist though. Narcissism is not good, you could get turned in to a flower   . And about lying.. nearly all kids at my shool do. just try to fix if you are worried about it, and if you "can't" then see a psychologist.
and origamifreak_1.6180339889 is right look into some other disorders

as was stated, self-diagnoses is inaccurate.

that said, personality disorder is unlikely. most patients with personality disorders are not self-cognizant. that is to say, someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder, generally speaking, recognizes that their behavior is wrong. someone with obsessive-compulsive personality-disorder, generally speaking, does not recognize their behavior is wrong.

this is why histrionics/antisocial personality disorders, etc., are very difficult treat. they don't think anything they're doing is wrong or off-base.

all that said, i am a bit removed from my psychiatry.
