Dimetrodon is cool with me since he's a pelycosaur but I'm hesitant about Acanthostega.

I like this challenge already
Some fishy questions:
1) Classic interpretations only? Or modern interpretations? How about a feathered deinonychus?
2) Are Triassic mammal-like reptiles excluded? I have a rather nice Cynodont in development.
3) Can we have a limit of ten entries per person? That way, Joshua might spend a bit more time making his creations a little neater.

I once set up an origami PLC. But the business folded.
1. Classic and modern reconstructions are both fine by me. In fact, I really like some of the super-outdated dinosaur reconstructions... they've got character. So, a feathered deinonychus is cool with me, as is a non-feathered one.
2. I guess I'd be okay with any of the mammal-like reptiles (I'm already accepting the pelycosaurs so I guess I shouldn't discriminate against the therapsids)... cynodont is fine by me.
3. I tend to agree, though I'm hesitant to encourage any rule that targets one user specifically. And I'm not sure anything is going to make him slow down... I mean, he's been told point-blank to slow down by several users here and it's had no effect.

Thanks a lot! Diplocaulus is still my favorite. But the angle on that Eoraptor is unbeatable.paperlion wrote:Oooh, I really like the Eoraptor. I especially like the angle.
Yeah, but they're newly uploaded, and I think they're appropriate for the topic. Don't worry, I still have one I'm working on. And seeing as I need it ready by the NYC convention, it better be ready for this challenge!Daydreamer wrote:@Jared - Those aren't new models though

Theoretically every member can start folding challenges and give a set of rules. However the Monthly Folding Challenge's set of rules states that the winner has to be chosen from the winner of the previous month, who is also responsible for deciding and starting the topic for the following month. The judge (previous month's winner) and the winner aren't allowed to win the next challenge.
Paleo-origami is one of my favorite topics as well. This will be a fun month to watch!
Here is a pair of Parasaurolophus (I thought perhaps female and male colorings respectively), each one from a 15cm square:

The left one has 31 steps if I counted right. I still find the August 2009 challenge inspiring as far as fold count.

Here's my Mymoorapelta (yes, the dermal armor extends too far over the hips -- I know):

...and here's my Iguanodon:

Both wet-folded from elephant hide. I really ought to redo them at some point with MC'd unryu or tissue... The Mymoorapelta was really generated more as an exercise in spike generation from pleats; the basic principle could be used to generate any ankylosaurid, nodosaurid, polacanthid, or any other spiky-bodied animal, like an aetosaur. This model actually stemmed from a Stegosaurus I invented but that I don't much like (and so won't show here). I also have some untested ideas about how to make the dorsal osteoderms look more like actual ankylosaur osteoderms, but didn't express them in this model.
