Two-coloured sonobe cube

Post by naomi »

More a theoretical question...
Is it posible to create a sonobe cube with only two colours so that every side of the cube shows both colours (eg top and bottom triangles red, left and right triangles green)?

I was up late last night trying to figure it out, and it's frustrating me. If it's not possible, then I can give up!

Thanks,
Naomi

There's an iso-area cube in 'Origami for the Connoisseur' that has a nice colour change using quarter size squares instead of triangles. I suppose it might be possible to alter it to get a different shape.

Using the diagrams and units of the link you posted it is definitely impossible to get a two coloured cube like the one you want (that is if my 3D-thinking has not failed me....).
But there might be other similar units to fulfil your purpose like Euan suggested.
So long and keep folding ^_^
