Help with Sirgo's Parrot

Post by Alekos »

Hi!

I've got some problems understanding what Sirgo does between the 13th and the 14th steps; I've got some idea but I can't do what I suppose he does ... can anybody help me? Thanks to all.

Sorry for my bad English

Are you talking about these diagrams?
http://www.origami-cdo.it/ospiti/pdf/guacamayo.pdf

And if yes, what steps are you refering to since there is no numbering....

Hmmm, from picture 13 to 14 it's just two valley folds to the center line. If this doesn't work you might have done something wrong in the previous steps.
Then from 14 to 15 you swing some layers to the left and from 15 to 16 it's another valley fold.

9 to 10 is a reversefold
10 to 11 is another reversefold
12 is the full view of the model after the previous steps (no new folds)
From 12 to 13 you have to repeat the steps 6 to 12 on the right side.

Don't worry, asking questions and getting help is exactly what this forum is for :)

In this step you fold the flap in half (arrow 1) while reversefolding the top point down (arrow 2). Hope this picture clarifies the step for you.

Are you talking about Step 8 now or about the following steps?
For Step 8 just make sure to make the mountain and valley folds as indicated in the picture I posted. It is maybe not a reverse fold in the traditional sense. Step 8 is something you will find as "fold while incorporating a reverse fold" in several diagrams.

I'll explain this for the second reverse fold since the picture is more suitable to show. The first one (step 9) works exactly the same.

Image
You have to open the model a bit, push in the indicated corner (black push-arrow) and flatten the model along the creases shown.

The next picture shows you the creases how they should be after performing Steps 9 - 11.
