Cool,Saj. When I said "shoot for" I meant "try to go to', but I'll try to get another new camera by then it seems none of them I buy are clear enough , either that or my house has poor lighting. I'll have to get one with more megapixels next time.
SEOF is South East Origami Festival, and is held every two years in North Carolina. PCOC (Pacific Coast Origami Convention) would definetly be closer to you than any other, but you seem to be right in the middle of most of them. With my horrible experiences with Digital Cameras, I'd suggest something better than mine . It'd probably cost you around $100 for a decent one, but thats probably why I havn't got one yet.

Hi people,
I have the Fuji FinePix F601 Zoom camera with Super CCD. That just means that it can pack in 6 million pixels because it has hexagonal shaped pixels (or something like that). I highly recommend this camera, but Fuji has just bought out a new model, called the Fuji FinePix F610. It has 2 LCD screens and I think is a wee bit better than the one I have got (eg supports Canon's PictBridge technology).
Just got a brand new spanking printer as well, the Canon BJ i965 - buy this one if you print photos at home. You won't be able to tell the difference between a *real* lab printout or the one printed on this printer.
I'll be aiming for 400 pics, I think Heinz Strobbel (the guy who makes pleated origami) will be attending.
Someone please take pictures at SEOF!

I believe he uses tickertape for many of his creations. I think I'm willing to spent between 100-200 dollars for the camera, what did yours cost Saj?saj wrote:I'll be aiming for 400 pics, I think Heinz Strobbel (the guy who makes pleated origami) will be attending.

Heinz Strobl's work can be seen here,

People have classifled his work as Knotology, and I think one of his spheres appears in a newer Kasahara book

I have an Olympus camera. It's pretty outdated by now (3.2 mega pixels). My dad recently got an HP digital camera, and getting a focused picture isn't as easy with my camera. Also note that you usually have a macro function (Usually the button has a flower on it) that allows you to take pictures from a very close range (like 8 cm). This is very good for taking pictures of origami models
Cheers!

Hmmm. I really should use the Preview button more often.
I meant to say that the Olympus camera is better than the HP in getting a focused picture. (There should have a "as" before the "with my camera").
Cheers!

My dad got me the camera from his trip to China last year. At that time, it cost around £450, which is around $675.
I think it's got cheaper now, so check around first. I highly recommend that you save up a little and buy a good quality camera (around 3 MegaPixels or higher), instead of buying slightly cheaper 1MP models that will set you back $100. Maybe you can get to rent one from the shop using your dad's name? At least then you'll have some good pics.
On that note, anyone planning to come to the UK for the BOS convention?
I'm not really into strip folding, so I think I'll just be doing some casual folding at the bar.

Hey Saj, we might meet again in Manchaster!
My girlfriend has a biology conference in Cambridge
at the exact same time, so if all works well, this
will be a great opportunity to visit the UK again.
It's been almost a year since I was last in London!
Too much for me...
As to cameras - I'm using a very OLD model -
Fuji Finepix 1400 - less than 2MP, but I'm quite
happy with it. I mostly use it for my website's
pics. Good Macro mode.
So, anyone coming to the first ever Israeli origami
convention in March? Tomoko Fuse will be here,
I can't wait! It's very exciting to have a convention
right here at home. And it's in a beautiful place, too.

Hi Gilad and other peeps,
Can't make it to Israel - don't have the cash too! wow Tomoko Fuse - please take some pics Gilad!
It'll be great to see you at Manchester; I hope to stay the full three days this time. Please bring something to display (hint - the Icarus model).
I guess it is a good time to start strip folding. Hmm...
