Satoshi Kamiya - Phoenix

Post by maskprigami »

Hi everybody. This is my first post. Is it possible for someone to help me finish the phoenix model. I managed to fold the base but i can't figure out where to go to now. Is there anyone out there who can help me if I post a pic of the base that I have now?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Is there anywhere I can purchase old copies of the Tanteidan convention books (1-6)?

Not quite sure about which phoenix you are speaking of. Do you mean Satoshi's? If so, which version?

About old Tanteidan Convention books, these are out of print so it will be hard to purchase these from any store. You can try checking Ebay, but they are very difficult to find; I myself am still in search for a way to acquire them.

Sorry!

Hi, I guess I should have mentioned which one. Yes, it is Satoshi's phoenix. I am not sure which version it is but I think that it is the last version. It has an extremely long tale that looks somewhat segmented.

Thanks for the reply and still anxiously waiting for help.

I think I could help you a little, but I'm not sure what your problem is. If you are indeed referring to Phoenix version 3.5, then the only place I have seen this creasepattern is the most recent Tanteidan Magazine. Shaping is hard and there are a few tricks to look at. The head and wings seem pretty straight forward from what I see, but the tail texture poses an interesting problem. It involves a series of crimps along the long point and then folding in half.

Here is some help regarding the tail of Satoshi's Phoenix models.

First, you fold the tail as shown in the creasepattern (There are different ways to get to something that looks like step 3) depending on the version of the phoenix):

1)

2)

3)

Now you reverse fold the following pattern (Crimp in and out multiple times)

4)

5)

You then proceed to open up the top of the model and valley the two sides in half to achieve the finished result:

Bottom)

Hope that helps!

No, the creasepattern isn't officially published in the mag, but a picture of the phoenix calendar page with its cp is in the magazine in the photos page. It is small, but the creasepattern is there.

Phoenix 3.5 is very easy
if you aim to fold the phoenix to what you have, yes it is easy, but compare to the picture of the author, you did not get much far
