Re: What have you folded lately?
I've recently folded the T-Rex skeleton by Issei Yoshino. I haven't really posted anything on the forum, but I thought I'd throw this one out there, haha.

An hippogriff or griffin, who knows.

One-piece T-Rex Skeleton by Robert J. Lang folded by me. Not the cleanest fold but quite fun. The paper (35cm Tissue foil) was way too small and I decided to skip the last step - adding crimps on the back spine - because there are a felt hundred layers connected to this spine. What I really liked was the way the legs and tail are shaped.

Re: What have you folded lately?
WOW origami_8 I really like this One Piece T - Rex, the head and the tail are awesome, where I can find the diagrams? , can you send it to me ? Please.
I would love to fold it.

The diagrams are published in OUSA Conventionbook 1994. I'll have a look whether there is a more accessible way to get them.

Re: What have you folded lately?
whoever folded the Attack of the Kraken did a great job. Congrats.

I have the 1994 book, the T-rex skeleton is really fun to make!
Also, there is another one-piece T-rex skeleton in the 1995 OUSA book! In fact, I think I'll dig those out.

Re: What have you folded lately?
thx - this is my third go at it - the second attempt is the crumpled "wave" surface it is mounted on (rather than throw it away, I used the severely crumpled model fail as a textured base for the next attempt to rest on). Attempt #1 is best not talked of, ever. The final (successful) attempt took in excess of 20hrs - it is a brutal fold at times (or I found it was with my fat, clumsy fingers) but I think I needed the other attempts to work out what went where, what changed into what and how the final assemblage sort of works.phillipcurl wrote:whoever folded the Attack of the Kraken did a great job. The detail on this model, if you have not attempted it, is astonishing - full kudos to Brian Chan, it is a masterpiece of design indeed to tease that much out of a single sheet, and it is a good test of your accuracy (and the toughness of your paper) ... I will, however, not be folding it again.

Re: What have you folded lately?
I have been experimenting with the base fold for Eric Joisel's Gnome, and am finally getting the hang of these little fellows. So much model potential, fun to fold - I even added a button to keep the coat closed

With a 28 grid fold, you get lovely long arms, pose-able legs and lots of flaps to model a face

Re: What have you folded lately?
I was playing around with an arbitrarily placed semi-regular pentagon (as you do) and realised with some accordion pleating that this could form the basis of a nice tree rootstock. It took a bit of planning to coax the paper up into a nice twisty trunk and some fairly standard box pleating to then separate into branches.
I figure that, because you hide, nearly completely, one side of the paper inside the tree you could, using 2-colour paper, coax leaves at the tips with some more playing around.
I mounted it on a pentagonal base, some wire armature up through it so it is now fairly rigid - very happy with the results:

Re: What have you folded lately?
Wonko can you work on a few better pictures of your Kraken? The light is too powerful for the dark background so I can't quite make out all of the details.
