Kirin designed by Kamiya. Possibly the nicest model in the book? Folded from30cm unryu type paper treated with mc mixed with acrylic pearlescent medium. The paper was a little thicker than the 25gsm thai unryu that's widely available, I found about 7 sheets in my loft cut in perfect 30cm squares, no idea where it came from! Origami fairy, maybe? The paint makes it very nice to fold, too.
Edit: Thanks to Razzmatazz for vastly improving this image for me!

@Razzmatazz: Cheers! Shame I couldn't edit out the stand :?
@Sr123.. : Alas, my teeth are in less than mint condition (some are not in their original packaging)...not worth much on the open market!

This is the unveiling of the secret project that I was working on.

Before I get to any lengths about what it is, exactly, here is the relevant website: http://members.casema.nl/gertvandijk/

It is a creature designed by Gert van Dijk for his xenobiology project on planet Furaha. it is called a "rusp" which comes from netherlandean word "rups", which means "caterpillar".

Don't let the name fool you, these fictional creatures can weigh as much as an african elephant and have an internal skeleton.

If it looks like both ends are the same, that would be right, there is a head on either end of the creature, but one of the heads is more important than the other, and the rear head merely allows this long and unable-to-turn-on-a-dime creature to see danger coming from behind and protect itself. based on the orientation of the knee joints, the animal is facing to the left.

speaking of knees, there are 24 legs - 12 pairs. hell on earth to fold!!! XD

48 by 48 grid, 50 cm square, 20 cm long when finished

Thanks, and consider it done! I'd forgotten about that thread, I think it was one of the first I read on this forum when I stumbled across it last year! Glad to have something worth adding :D

Folded from: 45 cm Kami paper.

Difficulty: Complex.
Diagrams: CP in Christmas Origami Book 2013.
Hope you like it! :D
