Sweeeet! :D

Is there a good way of drawing angles with Inkscape?

I don't need to use it though, I found out that there is CorelDraw on my old computer and I'm happy with that.

I used printer paper and didn't know in which direction I should have folded/shaped it, so it is now lying in the trash can becuz it ripped.. wasn't really cleanly folded either, was mainly to check the diagrams, so no loss ^^

Thank you for telling me about the errors, FlareglooM. I appreciate it.
I am fixing them right now. :)

Just a note: I strongly advise that you do not use printer paper for this model. In the end, the layers get very bunched up and may cause ripping, as FlareglooM already knows. It is best that you use a very strong, thin square of paper. Double tissue, or tissue foil are what I recommend using.

Topsu: No, there is no foolproof way of drawing angles. Well, actually, you can draw 45 degree angles with ease. You just need to press Ctrl on your keyboard as you draw a line with the "Bezier curves/straight line" tool, and the line will snap to different angles. Sadly, the list of angles does not include 22.5. All the "snap-to: angles are divisions of thirds (15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, etc), so all of the 22.5 angles I used in my diagrams are just good approximations.

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

OK, here are the edited diagrams (again, thank you FlareglooM):

EDIT: Diagrams removed, for surprise when they are done.

Actually, you can define specific angles for the lines, but it's a little clunky...

1. Draw a line of approximate length, straight horizontal.
2. Select the line
3. Go into object --> Transform (Third from bottom)
4. Go to the rotation tab, and define how many degrees, to three decimal places, you want the rotate the line.
5. Position the line where you want it.
6. If it's too long, go into node editor and double click on the line where you want the end to be.
7. Delete the old end node.

That would be pretty difficult... I could make a video tutorial, but that would take a LONG time. I'll think about it. :)

Sorry to reply again to just talk about inkscape, but there are countless tutorials out there already. For beginners, I suggest watching both of these.

^ You can changie the end of the url to part3, all the way to part11. Some of the stuff covered in these tutorials is utterly useless for us, but hey, whatever

There, however, is no inkscape tutorial geared for origami designers to my knowledge. Certain tricks, like creating multi-page pdf files, are not really covered anywhere.

What I meant was that I could cover how to use Inkscape to diagram origami models, which is what (I assume) Darkeagle was asking for help with.
