Angled Rose was my first Complex type model. It took me twelve hours in one sitting to get it right. Now, I can average one rose every half hour if I'm being distracted. I just kept practicing. I keep a collection of them sitting on my keyboard. I have this idea to string one hundred of them together to hang around my room like a border on the ceiling.
1000 Cranes=Senbazura
100 Roses=...?
My favorite, however, is Gay Merrill's Tulip. I love folding those in public; it's such a simple design, but everyone is amazed at the "magic step" of having to blow into it. It makes me smile every time.
I'm desperately searching for an Orchid, though. I've tried Azaleas, Daffodils, Lilies, and others, but I really want to make an Orchid.

Everyone's a voyeurist, they're watching me watch them watch me right now.

Aldo Marcell (from Nicaragua) has amazing orchid models, he is a botanist and all of them have all the details and components, check this one by example, he gave me one in Cusco last year:

about kawasaky's, is the "angled" you talk the New Rose? if that is the case, is one of my favourites, Lang's Rose is gorgeous but really hard to shape well. Phu Tran's is really beautiful but I don't agree with his attitude, since is mostly a variation of Kawasaky's one.
I hope Aldo publishes his models soon.
regards.

1000 cranes is 'senbazuru' 千羽鶴、where sen=1000, ba=feathers, zuru=crane, but it's more of a phrase. I don't think there's a phrase for 'a hundred roses', but I may be wrong. With a direct translation it's 'hyakubara' 百腹、where hyaku=100 and bara=rose.
