Also I would like to add Edwin Corrie as one of the designers that impressed me the most. I like the effective look in his simple models.

Many models have impressed me over the years. Most recently, Brian Chan's Wall-E really impressed me.

Robert Lang's Praying Mantis from Origami Insects and Their Kin. I just finished folding it, and the point-split was ingenious at making the head. I have never seen such a fold. That impressed me. :o I have not seen any other models that utilize such a fold.
Whenever I do complex Origami I get this sinking feeling.

You are right it is a pretty difficult folding sequence, but with practice you can get pretty good results. It is pretty useless for anything else, although I did use that design to give a fish a mouth. I have folded the Praying Mantis three times, and each time I improve. I guess I am a little bias in this discussion because I love Insect origami. :D
