one quick question....
can I send in diagrams that I've uploaded to my Facebook/Myspace, but not published anywhere else?
I have a tendancy to share with my friends (not that any of them are actually folders) as soon as I'm finished diagramming

...oh! and how about x-rated origami diagrams? are they allowed?

Facebook and MySpace are public places, that counts as publication.

There are many kids participating so I guess X-rated diagrams could be a problem.

thanks for these words, bethnor! unfortunately there are still to much people who won't or can't see what you've seen. and this is not just a question of age ...

Malachi brings up some good points, but I'm afraid I disagree with him on others.
malachi wrote:1. It seems a bit elitist to only allow people who can design and/or diagram to participate. There are a lot more folders than designers in the world and totally excluding them without any reasonable way to participate seems a bit unfair. I could understand giving the book to contributors and letting non-contributors pay a small fee that gets contributed to, say, the upkeep of the forum or the origami database or some other shared resource.
How is it elitist? Anybody can draw diagrams for a traditional model. Most of the better diagrams from this book will end up getting published somewhere else eventually, anyhow.

The suggestion of having a price tag that goes to the upkeep of the forum is a nice idea-- but the point of this publication is so the diagrammers can give each other a christmas present. We spend the rest of the year releasing diagrams to the public, is it really a problem for us to make diagrams for each other for once?
2. The exclusivity requirement seems to promote hoarding of designs instead of sharing, and I personally believe that the culture of origami sharing is a major driving force in the hobby right now.
I'm not sure why you have a problem with this. Many designers save their best work for submission to the Tanteidan convention book every year-- how is this any different?

My grandmother used to read a story to me called "The Little Red Hen" and I have many fond memories of it. Here's a link if you haven't read it yet.[/url]

You could break out some graph paper and draw them, and thin if ya wanna, send those hand diagrams to a volunteer to make computer diagrams. There are plenty of people who will jump right on the chance to do it

I have another quick question...

is there such a thing as a 'decrease scale' or 'zoom out' symbol and if so, can somebody show me it please?

you can write it in text or draw an arrow fat at the beginning and skinny at the point
