Folding Tissue Paper

Post by esato »

Does anyone fold Tissue paper without treating it with metyl cellulose or backing it with aluminum foil or any other kind of paper?

No, it's a perfectly legitimate question.

Floderer uses tissue for many of his crumpling works.

Tissue can be folded, but it is extremely soft and tends to tear easily. However, it can be used to good effect for some models, for example, the traditional lotus.

Maybe you will understand better if you see some of Vincent Floderer´s work. On the following pages are some pictures:

And here you can find two videos to give you a better understanding:

I have folded several models with just tissue paper, it works really well for some, not so well for others.

I know that videos and I know how Floderer crumpling paper (by the way, who tried his procedure?), but first question was about folding of tissue paper. Yes, I get it! "thut" wanted to say that he only use the tissue paper for crumpling. OK, now I understand... 8)
