Origami Jewelery

Various girl friends of mine who have seen my origami wondered if I could make origami earrings or other kinds of jewelery. Has anybody here had experience turning origami into jewelery? Specifically, is there some kind of spray that will make the origami at least semi-weatherproof or at least sturdy? And is there a good place online to buy earring hooks fairly cheap?

A little clear varnish will do the trick (nail, spray or otherwise)
As to ear-ring hooks try e-bay as you can usually pick up 50-100 for a couple of pounds (or dollars stateside).
http://www.kasj.co.uk is one wholesale site that works on UK E-Bay that is quite good, you might also want to try any local craft shops since they usually stock such materials.

You might want to have a look at this site for a little inspiration:

Jeremy Shafer's (not sure if I spelled his last name right) Origami to Astonish and Amuse has a few cool ring models.
