Dear Community,

The Art Centre at Central Technical School invites you to make a wish. For the next two months leading up to the opening of our Annual Art Exhibition on Thursday May 31St, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. we are asking you to create "an origami" (any size).

The word "origami" was derived from the Japanese verb "oru" (folding) and from "kami" (paper). Origami is a form of visual/sculptural representation that is defined primarily by the folding of the medium (usually paper).

Within your creation we would like you to inscribe a personal wish. Thousands of origami inscribed with your wishes will be placed in a space 8'x8'x8'. You must come in person (or send a representive if you have many) to place your origami wish in our Space Of Hope.

Located in The Art Centre at Central Technical School, (Lennox & Lippencott one block east of Bathurst and one block south of Bloor, we are open Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m.)

We are also asking you to send a copy of this letter to 10 friends via post, or in person.

Why origami?
In 1955, the folded crane became known as a symbol of peace when the world learned the story of Sadako Sasaki. Several years
after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Sadako contracted leukemia. While in the hospital, a friend told her about a
Japanese legend that grants one wish to the folder of a thousand paper cranes. Her wish was to heal. Sadako died 356 cranes short
of her goal. Her classmates folded the rest and all 1,000 were buried with her. Her hope, strength and determination inspired
millions.

Now, your wishes and origami creations will light the flame of creativity to say, "I care about our planet earth, here is my wish and origami creation".

Every wish is important and will be cherished. A Wish for the World taps into two of our most powerful resources - the human mind and heart - giving individuals a way to join together to express hopes and intentions for the future of our global community.

The Many Faces of Central Technical School

Central Technical School will be hosting a multicultural event on Saturday June 2nd, 2007 from noon to 4:00 pm. The event will feature food, music, cosmetology, drama, graffiti, a powwnw, and break-dancing. Scadding Court Community Centre will be presenting steel pan Asian dancers, dragon dancers, African drumming and capoeira (African-Brazilian marshall arts). Come and

Well, thinking on the last Robert Lang video IÂ´ve seen, that was aired recently and discussed on the Mailing List, I wouldnÂ´t be so sure about that...

Well, that was a part of the message, I just copy and pasted it... I guess that the lessage was intended for genral population, including people who never heard of the word "Origami" of course
