Share your book ordering experience with Origamihouse

Post by steyen »

Hi,

Can anyone who has ordered book from the Japan origamihouse share their experience with me?

I would like to know how is the procedure to order, whether the bookshop guarantees that we get the book during shipping, and the problems that I might face if I ordered from them.

Is it safe to order from them? Is there any other way to order from them?
Thanks

The first time I ordered a book from the OH was, oh, about 7 years ago. I really wanted to get Origami Fantasy by Kawahata. I had gotten instructions to send them the specific order written out plus the price in $US in cash. I was lucky it got through.

I believe that this is still the method that the OH prefers (as it says on their website). Hopefully they may soon open up an online store; who knows? But since, I have been able to buy OH publications at conventions or through someone who knows OH here in the US. One such person who I've ordered through in the past is June Sakamoto (who's email is "Foldmaster at AOL dot COM") who graciously lends here services by taking orders for memberships via the online money transaction system, PayPal (which does take a cut, BTW). If this would work for you, try contacting her. I'm not sure if she still does it, but it's worth a try!

Good Luck!

Jason DID NOT write June's email explicitly as writing it explicitly makes it easier for programs to hunt it down and send her spam messages. Please refrain from writing emails explicitly in the future.

June still accepts orders for Tanteidan magazines and convention books, but that is all. To buy the origamihouse books, you can either send an international postal money order, or buy from Sasuga/Origami USA.

Finally, I recently ordered something from Japan using an international postal money order. It is a bit like throwing your money away, because you never know if you will get the merchandise. So far, my payment has arrived and I am waiting for my books to come. I will let you know how it works out (note that I didn't order from Origamihouse, though)

Hi everyone, I am posting here to ask if the 13th convention tanteidan book is available for ordering anywhere. Also if it only available through origamihouse, is June Sakamoto still offering orders through paypal? From what I've heard it is not safe to order by IPMO or cash. Lastly, on the origamihouse page the costs are quit confusing because the price is 30$ or 30 Euros. There is a difference between those prices, about 10$. Any feedback is really helpful :D .
