Origami Inspiration

Ok. Some things (whatever they are) inspire us to design origami. This is a photo of the tiles in our bathroom. What pattern/object can YOU see in this photo.
Believe it or not. To me it resembles a Panda Bear! (Six blue and two white tiles). The white tiles are the head and body, the blue tiles are the four legs and ears. So we need six flaps (blue tiles) from the edge of the square (to colour-change) and two central pieces for the head and body.
Here is my result. You may think it resembles Marc Kirschenbaum's "Fluffy", but it was designed from a totally different base. A base I'm working on for numerous other projects.
What do you think?

Wow... that's very nice! The panda is really beautiful.
Now, looking at those tiles in your bathroom, I only see... err.. math!
Speaking of Kirschenbaum, he submitted a Seated Panda to the Origami Christmas Book 2007! From the drawings, it looks different from yours (I didn't try it yet).
Anyway, amazing work you did here!

Yeah, the Panda by Marc Kirschenbaum is actually a variation of his fluffy.
I would be interested in the base your are using, CP maybe?

Very nice! The face reminds me a koala though...

Hm, the tiles in your bathroom are looking like koi scales to me, the only question is how to get those nice colour changes.
Somehow they also remind me on a rabbit or dog, I think I've seen a modular Origami version sometime ago that was made with these elements. But at the moment I can't remember where I saw it.

I find that what inspires me to design are things/creatures I like but have never seen before in origami. And things I remember from my childhood. Hence all the Pokemon; most I have never seen before folded and many of the ones I have designed I had toys of as a kid or I liked

A couple of years ago I "created" a tessellation just like that pattern:
Diagrams available at OUSA07 and BOS Bristol convention books.

Daydreamer, the CP for my Teddy Bear is under the topic "New Designs". Let me know how it compares to Kirschenbaum's "Fluffy".
