I just got a gift certificate for Barnes and Noble, I am now going to buy Origami Design Secrets: Mathematical Methods for an Ancient Art by Lang.
Anybody else ordering this, or have any info on the book.

or have any info on the book
not more than what was told in the list...
but I'm surely not going to buy this book, because I would probably not read it. I'm not interested in becoming a designer and reading an english book wouldn't be much fun (following the words and the sense... a hard piece of bread
english isn't my mother tongue)

More than half of this book has diagrams and crease patterns, so not all of it involves reading!

I am extremely looking forward to reading it, and learning how to design origami better. I cant wait.

From what I heard, around September or so.
I got a sneak preview of the book during the OUSA con this year, and it's absolutely amazing! A large part of it is an extension of the Treemaker manual. The other chapters talk about traditional bases and hybrids based on those, and a lot of chapters on detailing, for instance, how to split points, how to fold scales, etc. At the end of each chapter are diagrams of 2-3 models which illustrate the concepts described in that chapter.
So yeah, it's great even if you don't design.

Wow! you actually managed to get a sneak preview of the book? cool.
Yeah I think that the inclusion of the Black Forest Cuckoo Clock is worth the price of the book!
Cant wait!

Yea, but will anyone be able to fold it.

IIRC, most of the BFCC is box pleated, so the hardest part would be finding, measuring and cutting a rectangle of the right length.

Although I still haven't folded the Cuckoo Clock from Complete Origami, one of the first things that put me off was the paper size.
I can't wait to fold some more insects though!

Robert Lang said on the origami list ODS will be released in middle September instead of the end of September.
Good News!
