Japan Origami TV competition:

There are 5 competitors; out of which 4 are Japanese.
I only recognise Jeremy Shafer & Satoshi Kamiya

Enjoy!

And here is the corresponding travel memory from Jeremy Shafer (2003):

Since I read this memory a few years ago, I always wanted to see this show. I'm very happy that Jeremy has put it online.

The third competitor Tanaka Masashi is also not unbeknownst to me. He has a lot of great crane variations, some of them can be seen in the third video.

Awesome show. However, it looked like it was a bit biased. I mean.. Kamiya got a 10/10 from all 3 judges, even though his creation wasn't that much better than the other ones. ( The transforming-hippo was cooler imo ).

I think I've watched 3 of these shows from someone who had them on tape, and they are really entertaining. Kamiya has been crowned TV Champion on all 3, closely followed by Hojyo Takashi (at least in one of them).

I knew Kamiya would win from the start! I mean his works are truly amazing.

I think most amazing is, that they fold their stuff incredibly fast. Especially in the last round.

… or maybe I'm just too slow for this world.

Well, I think they just have more experience, and can fold alot faster, I am new to the forum, but I love origami, and keeps me more desperate to fold more better. Just fold and get better!

Not only are they more experienced, but they designed all of the models themselves, so they know them inside and out.
