nice
the kawai crane envelope is the first piece, that I modified. I like crane envelopes, somehow the crane is THAT special model, that everybody somehow love, isn't it
I started to create simple letter-decorations lately. of course there are enough of it out there, but there can't be enough origami, am I right?
The one I am talking about is very similar. It is by Ishibashi Minako, and has appeared in BOS mag 121 (sorry for the mistake above).
The folding sequence is very similar to yours, but, it begins by simply rolling in two sides, and then continuing with the squash that makes the preliminary base, and so on.
it really looks like it's the same model
I searched my diagrams for the original Kawai diagram but didn't found it. I got it somewhere from the net... maybe somebody else can help?
I folded Issei Yoshino's beautiful horse, which was less complex than I had imagined. However I did notice that the size of the face was smaller in proportion to the body (My friend Martin first mentioned this). I still think Komatsu's horse is more superior.

I'm currently fooling around with Robert Lang's Treefrog. I back-coated a ten inch square of some very fibrous lime green tissue with some brown parcel paper. I hope that it will make a good model. On previous occasions, I've messed up the feet.
Initially I attempted to fold the frog using the tissue paper on its own, but it felt too baggy and I wanted a bit more rigidness in the folds. Finding the right type of paper for a model seems to be half the battle.
