It would be pretty neat, but I think I am going to shy away from that one, so as to avoid over-complexity (for the time being).
But I will try that in the future. :)

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Sounds like a great project! I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

I think the main problem would be the neck! Good luck!

Thank you all for the encouragement. :)

I have worked out a CP (which is sans the colour change for the elytra), and will try to fold it in the next couple of days. The free-time that I have had has been ephemeral, due to a homework overload (:x), but I will (hopefully) be done with it all by tomorrow.
I usually spend Friday evenings doing work (just like a normal week-day), so I should have Saturday free; you should expect it to be done by then.

CP here.

Sorry about the shadows in the pictures; it was the only place in my house with good natural light.

Nice one!
I like the way you've done the CP, with the shapes on one half and the pleats on the other half. Makes it nice and clear.

Thanks, guys! :)

So, any suggestions as to what I should try to design next?
I always find it difficult to find a subject. I don't know how all those people do it! :?

I love locusts. Most people don't, but I think they are a wonderful subject, static or flying.

Or cicadas. They're pretty cool.k

Good job dude.
As to what to design next... Fold what you know or love. Try to capture for example your pet, and to distinguish it from another animal of the same kind...

Or fold something you know nothing about so you can learn something about that subject during the process. You will be amazed how much more you will strive to get it as good as possible.

Remember, quality instead of quantity!

These are things I try to apply in my designs, whether they are successful or not, it is a win-win situation.

Keep it up

WOW! The giraffe beetle is surely better than your first beetle! It is amazing! I like how you manged to make the neck thin without making the body too thick (after all, you rounded it)

Anyway, why don't you fold something mythological?

Maybe a nice Centaur or Gryphon? Gryphons are one of my favourite Origami subjects.

A tree. There isn't any really good tree model (with leaves of course).

Thanks, everybody!

I think I am going to stick with insects for now, because I find them the be easier (although I don't think people in the 70's agree with me ).

I think that I might try to take on kareshi and Origami_8's challenges in the future. They seem pretty do-able. And the prospect of designing a model which was barely designed (the tree) is quite interesting. Puts on a lot of pressure from myself though; I would love to be the designer of the definitive tree model 8).

It may take a while to design things, as with school work and such, so I don't think that there will be a steady output of designs until the summer, at which point I hope things will really pick up.
