Snowflake 2.1

Designed and folded by Jared Needle. From a hexagon of tracing paper.

Very nice snowflake, Jared. I have always shunned designing snowflakes, because they always turn out to look exactly the same. This, however, looks superb, and different from any snowflake I have ever seen . Crisply folded, and well designed - Congratz on another superb model.

Great stuff, except one thing, HOW DID YOU MAKE THAT THING STAND UP? It's neck is so ridiculously long, how'd you manage? anyway, make the spider into blooper. really.

Thanks Insaneorigami. Well, most origami snowflakes are basically the same. They all start out from the same base, so inevitably, they will be pretty similar. The other problem is that most snowflakes are designed by geometric folders, not representational creators. The styles of designing and folding are usually quite different. I've come up with a couple totally different snowflakes. By the way, the CP for this Snowflake is available in Origami Weekly. It's in the last issue of 2009.

Thanks Brett. Well, for that Mamenchisaurus I ended up filling its body with nickels to weigh it down. It was folded from really heavy paper.

Capybara

From a pentagon of amber chiri unryu backed with black unryu. About 7 inches from corner to edge.

Designed for the Origami Weekly Pentagon challenge. It was originally supposed to be an alpaca, but when I gave it a head the neck disappeared

Still needs a little work and a larger piece of paper. I need to lower that head and make it more boxy.

Or you could elongate the torso and make it some kind of Otter.

Haiti Heart

Heart for Haiti. Designed and folded by me, from a ~10 inch square of red unryu backed with white chiri unryu.

I was asked to design an origami Heart for Haiti. I only had two days to work on it.

H is for Haiti, Hope.

Post PCOC photos.

The photos I took at PCOC came out awful, so I took some photos of pieces I displayed. These photos were taken in January.

Towelie




Folded from six squares, the largest 13 inches. The Towel and both arms were folded from blue/white banana/silk paper. The legs were folded from the same paper, with an extra layer of yellow, and the mouth was folded from the same paper, colored black. The eyes were from black/white unryu I think.

Folded from a 6 inch square of packaged hanji. Could have used some MC on this guy, but I was too impatient to start folding. I only had the one sheet left.
