Umm, what about this skull?

This is also anermak's, and I consider it to be his best.

He had mentioned it right there :). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While it is more complex looking, his first has a more natural feel.

wouldn't it be possible to add a user's ranking? it may show another result than fishgoth's choice, though it is a good one.

It is purely my opinion, which is part of the fun of the competition. I've offered the winners (in order) the chance to judge the next competition, and it will be exclusively up to them who wins, and so on. A voting system is good, but is open to abuse on a public forum.

As for which of Anermak's skulls was better, I thought the one I chose captured the essence of an origami skull better than the one suggested by cupcake. Although the second one was more complex, I felt the the frontal/cranium region was too small compared to the facial bones, the maxilla were the wrong shape, the upper teeth were over-sized, and the ramii of the mandible were either absent or in the wrong place. All minor details though - it's still a jolly good model, although the simpler one is a more efficient, better looking model.

If it is of any interest to anyone, I was assisting in the operating theatre (room, for americans) on Friday, and two of the operations were maxillectomies, exposing the skull from the bottom of the eye to the teeth. In my line of work, I see quite a lot of the human skull, hence my interest in the subject for the first challenge.

Anyway, anyone come up with any pureland pets?
