I made a chair. I dont think it would win so I'm not gonna post it.
Origami is like food. You can love it and be obese. Or you can hate it and be and be a"cute". Or you can be a fail and your just that. A fail. Flickr : http://www.flickr.com/photos/76647015@N08/?saved=1

TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
Paper - elephant hide
Square 2 X 2 ft.
The model is completely closed with paper from all sides!

What is it?
As you could probably guessed it, this device can help you make a decision, when the laws of logic can not help you. You can just put the possibilities in the boxes in the bottom of the device and throw the ball from the top. There's a 45 - 45 chance that it will fall into one of the boxes... You don't have to put just "Yes" or "No" in the boxes. You can also put:
-the photos of two girls, so you can choose which one to got out with tonight,
-the names for your unborn child
-And much more!
This device is an improvement of the coin flipping system, because here there's a small chance (around 10%) that the ball will stop on its way down. So you can have a third, hardly probable, option...
You can also make not two, but more boxes in the bottom of the model!

Topsu: when must snowblue post his decision? The 31st of March or the 1st of April? Do we have time to post models the 31st or only till the 30th like in the Inter-forum Challenge?
Thanks

Egg box
elephant hide
20-60cm
This model is very useful in practical application - has many variations and it is very easy to prepare.
Very often we are faced with the problem of carrying and storing objects of round shape. Every now and then they lost, or as the eggs - crush, etc. So, this origami-box is easier to help overcome these troubles. Assembling the model does not require deep skills and expertise in origami, everyone can fold it. Box size depends only on the size of the cell and how many partitions you need inside ("a" x "b", and - the number of horizontal sections, b - number of sections in the vertical) ...
I note that the move in this box can not only eggs, it could be tennis balls, golf balls, billiard balls, etc.
The box has good shock absorption, since cell sections are in limbo. Therefore, based on the properties of the prepared material (paper), it may be indispensable for transporting fragile items of glass, crystal, china porcelain - glasses, cups, etc.

Re: Monthly Folding Challenge: March 2012

The Twisting Pop-Up Base
The concept is as follows:
Create a fold-only pop-up base that can be attached without glue to a card. The base has pockets so you can attach many different kinds of existing origami folds that have legs by inserting the legs in the pockets of the top fold.
When the card is opened, the origami figure twists into position.
This is where I’ve taken this concept – SO FAR.

Re: Monthly Folding Challenge: March 2012
This is my latest model: GRABBER

Mixing paper and a couple of plywood boards, you can make it open its jaws to grab different things. You can see it in action in THIS VIDEO.
Folded from a 6' 8'' X 1' 2'' rectangle. I used tape to join the boards in pairs but I didn't use tape in the model itself nor to join the boards to the model.
What do you think
?

That's crazy cool, Gerardo! I want one too!
Is your grabber usable without the plywood boards? Are they there just to add rigidity?

Re: Monthly Folding Challenge: March 2012
I wanted to make sure you saw my pop-up Basewith an origami figure inserted.
The model was added to show how the base is used and is NOT part of the entry for this challenge.
This video shows the Pop-Up Base with an origami figure inserted.
I used an Origami Elephant designed by George Rhoads.
You can use many figures as long as they have points that can be inserted (such as legs) and can be folded flat.

In this case, it precisely won't work without that rigidity.Sunburst wrote:That's crazy cool, Gerardo! I want one too!
