With regards to polls, if we set them up in advance of the submission deadline (26th), do we still set them to run for 7 days, or set them to run so that they finish on the 2nd? Or does it not really matter?

I'm sorry i didn't post the actual dates, however chris_t has got them right. I would rather you leave them up till the 2nd of April to ensure people don't miss the vote because the poll ended early.

How competitive is this competition (scale 1-10)?

It differs between duels, and each round it gets a little more competitive as the number of people gets smaller. I would say a 3, add 1 to the scale for each subsequent round. Overall, though, I would like to emphasize that this is meant to be a fun and educational activity for all involved.
