for this month the Subject is MONSTERS ...
you have to create a monster in origami using one or more sheet of paper without cuting or glue...
trying to scare us through your creations
Gachepapier is the judge for this month !

a kappa swimming in a pond (this is the duo-color-version of my latest flickr-post). it's not scary at all but this challenge was in need of a starter ...

Time to rev this place up!
My entry is the second try at my recent Dragon model, both are designed in June so I don't think there should be an issue:

Yes, keep'em coming ! Good stuff all around
I have no problem with any June 2012 design, even if you did not specifically have the challenge in mind initially...

Vampire Face
Hopefully you can tell what it is.
It also has weird hair.
Maybe I should work on a color change for it.
EDIT: Now it doesn't have hair and has more pronounced eyes and ears. I never really noticed that vampires had spiky ears until now.

This is my first design so I know it needs some work. (The paper was too small anyways, the model itself is scarcely three inches tall) Hopefully I will refold it before July!

There are thirteen points in that mouth of his, I hope no one is triskaidecaphobic.
Crease Pattern can be draw upon request.

Thanks TheUnChosenOne!
Here is another try with only slightly better paper and a couple modifications. (Mostly in usage of paper)
Origami Cthulhu:

With large paper I think it could be much better. For instance, the point of the long claws is to shape them like tentacles but i cant do that with small paper. Ah well.

It's been nice to see a few more last minute entries, my mind had been almost set on a podium...
THIRD PLACE
With two
ex-aequo contenders :
I really like how the face of
jeko's Cyclops came out, though I'm not sure about the cape/clothes, it would be a credible cyclops even without a title, well done !
jeko wrote:
akugami's kappa shares the podium, it's not scary alright, but its simplicity and clean aspect is really compatible with traditional Japanese folds, which fits nicely with the chosen subject.

SECOND PLACE
Sunburst's Entrance to the underworld, even though I'm not sure it's a monster itself, there certainly are monsters behind it and it has an excellenet play of lights going for it, the flames are great.

FIRST PLACE
snowblue's Bigeye actually caught mine from the beginning and is the only one that "dared" using several sheets, masterfully and to the best effect I might add. The formation of the eye's pupil also does a lot for this model

.

It's quite ironic that my designation of your model as the winning entry has this "déjà vu" feeling

...
Congratulations to you all, even if you didn't make it onto the podium.
A few more words are in order:
Raptorex and firstfold also had designs that could have worked for me, but in my (yes, subjective, but I'm "judge"

) opinion, the paper was inadequate. The UnchosenOne, your model was not quite finished in terms of design, I found it too hard to "read" it, but the teeth were nicely done. Bass, your model fell off the podium due the lastest entries, well done too !

thanks a lot, gachepapier, for picking my kappa up to a podium place and congratulations to the nice models beside and above mine!
