the end of the year is near and when our world will exist longer than just until december 21 there's something left to celebrate: CHRISTMAS. so please fold something you usually combine with this special event. there can be old men with white beards, a couple with their baby lying in a crib, a sleigh with presents, stars and so on.
the rules:
- create a new design of your own
- post just one contribution (one model or a scenery with more parts)
- use a rectangular sheet of paper
- don't cut or glue your model
- JUSTON will be the judge and the starter of the first challenge in 2013

"santa you still back there?!"

Can we change the subject just to Holidays in general? I don't really feel comfortable if we're going into religions again, since a member was just temporarily banned for going a bit too far into it.

Agreed but also i would say that if someone posts a religious model then no arguing over religious things

Of course. I also like opening up the challenge to all winter holidays as it gives people more subject matter to choose from.

Don't worry guys, I won't ban anyone for folding a religious scene independent from what religion. The member was not only banned because he used his religious believes in a very aggressive way, after having already been told to stop, but because of several other reasons, spamming the Forum being one of them. As long as you don't start a religious discussion here, everything is fine.
So for me a challenge subject like Christmas, Hanukkah or any other religious holiday is okay.

Not saying what it is yet, but there's something my parents suggested that would fit this challenge. So hopefully I'll enter if it doesn't interfere with the ODT.

Just to clarify one thing, would it be alright to fold a joke model of a Christmas scene with no offense meant towards that religion? one of my artist friends suggested it yesterday
If you want i can pm you my idea

no,i won't change the topic. if you want to start a vote whether my suggestion is too religious to fold and judge or not, please do as you like. i'm an atheist but do tolerate every religion if it is not acting aggressive against the unbelieving. to me christmas is more a time for love and family but for celebrating the birth of jesus christ.
if you don't want to fold a holy thing just fold something secular like a snowman ... but if you cannot live with my topic at all please boycott the challenge!

The ban did not result from the things regarding religion. It was primarily due to bumping old topics and advertising a model (and some other things probably). Religion just got mixed into it.
It's interesting to see what the effect has been on people making post which contain things about religion. I think as long as you are not going to say things repeatedly, like: "Your religion sucks because of this bla bla bla" or "my religion is awesome bla bla bla", you are okay.

In the western world Christmas is just a part of culture and has existed as a feast long before Christianity took over. People didn't want to part with their culture when changing to Christianity so it was integrated as religious feast, taking over the customs that have ever since been practised at that time of the year. So in reality Christmas is no religious feast but has existed before religion came to play a role.

don't need to get into the deep history of why we celebrate Christmas. just post something.
