spiritofcat VS OrigamiGeek - Informal Design Duel
Okay, three topics to choose from:
1. Biological things with fins (Fish, aquatic dinosaurs, scenes involving people from Finland...)
2. Furniture and Appliances (Chairs, Tables, Fridges, TVs, Game Consoles, etc.)
3. Food, from supermarket to plate (That is, food in the forms that we collect or consume it, not the whole animal or plant.)
We still need to determine the time limit, and paper limitations.
I generally fold from paper no larger than 15cm to a side, and square, but sometimes rectangles are more efficient for design.
Shall we say rectangles with the shorter side no more than 15cm?
And for time limit, I tend to work better on a fairly tight deadline.
Should we say 2 weeks with the possibility of extension upon request?

those are good topics I will go with #1. but is it about fins on fish or Fins as in the finish people?
and I think that 15cm is good for paper size
and 2 weeks is fine I think
sorry for the late respons.
Hope you have fun folding

But if you choose to do something involving people from Finland you'll have to make sure they're clearly Fins and not Danes or Norwegians.
Okay, it's all agreed then. Lets do it. Deadline is 2 weeks from the date of this post.

Well, in my timezone it'll be the 10th of March, but yeah, 14 days after the timestamp on that previous post of mine.

Re: spiritofcat VS OrigamiGeek - Informal Design Duel
I've started designing a Flying Fish.
The first draft was just based on my idea of what a flying fish looks like without actually checking any photos of them.

I checked out some pics of them on Google Image Search after folding this one and I can see that there's a lot of room for improvement.
I plan to keep working on it and refining it, but I'm uploading these pics now just in case I don't end up getting the time to improve it.
Edit:
I've folded a new version today incorporating a lot more of the details I noticed from the photos on Google Image Search.
This new version has the double set of wing-fins. Big ones at the front and smaller ones lower down at the back.
It's got the long lower section of the tail fin too.

There's still room for improvement so I'll probably make more changes to it before the duel is over.

Okay, I've refined my Flying Fish a bit more.
I think this will be the final version.
This version has a much nicer wing shape, plus the suggestion of eyes on the head, and a more streamlined body.

That last image is a cross-eye 3D photo.

The duel ends this weekend. You've only got about 3 days left if you want to enter any more models.
I don't think I'll be entering any more revisions of my flying fish. I'm happy with it how it is now.

Okay. Looks like the deadline has just about arrived.
You've got about 40 minutes left to get any final entry in and then I'll make a poll so people can vote.

And now the deadline has passed, so no more entries can be made and the poll will go up for 1 week.spiritofcat wrote:Okay. Looks like the deadline has just about arrived.
