I got some bad news you guys. Recently a friend showed me that my model already existed and a long time ago! You'll find the model here: http://www.origamee.net/gallery/2004.html

You'll find it as "30 unit assembly of our good old Fortune Tellers (Cootie Catchers)". If I'm reading that right then Yoshihide Momotani created it and the model is at least 11 years old.

Being that the case, I will no longer consider it my model and I will retrieve it from this challenge. Ondrej, if you're very interested in the model you should try to contact him.

I didn't want to abandon completely the challenge, so I created a box from the fortune teller. I prefer not to show it here untill I can have some certainity that it hasn't been created before.

I am sorry Gerardo about your news. The model in mentioned gallery looks really pretty the same as yours. But competition with master Momotani is mission impossible.

Anyway, I have one good news - I finished a diagram for Joseph Fleming's bat. Some optimalization of the folding sequence was necessary, but now it works.

Thanks for your kind words Ondrej. The bat looks cool... I noticed the proportions are different from Nepafarius' fold.

This first one was made by me. The one that follows was a fortune teller made and used by my little friend which I later "boxed" .

Yes some of the extraneous fold were changed. I was very happy with the alterations however, so I gave Ondrej the go-ahead for the diagrams. I still think he is modest of his contributions.

I really like your model Gerardo! I could see a game happening out of it. Like have a bunch of different colored folded paper, and whatever paper is chosen has something the person should do (kind of like truth or dare)

I'm still brainstorming for a collab btw, perhaps we can get suggestions from someone else as well?

Ondrej, please show the other model in the challenge. We wanna see it !

I know what you mean Nepafarius! All this thinking about fortune tellers has gotten me also thinking a lot in stuff like games for example, just like you mentioned .

I recieved one entry to the chalenge by email. I like the clean visage of the model and quite tricky construction of the spin plates, the model is not symetrical.

Thank to Gerardo. Your box is exactly what I mean for my book. It perfectly illustrate that you can change slightly the original (traditional) model and obtain something different and, moreover, useful. And it still looks like fortune teller...

I also really liked Stegosaur. It has this traditional-origami look to it. And thanks for noticing the essence of Boxed Fortune Teller. That was exactly what I was going for.

I actually didn't read that right. I talked to Menaakshi who owns the site I linked. It was she who created the 30 unit assembly of our good old Fortune Tellers. So if you are interested in the model Ondrej, you can simply contact her. There's a button on the site for that that says "Email".
