I folded a giraffe recently and thought the base had some potential for long necked models.
So I draw the instructions to get to the base if anyone wants to take the challenge of folding a giraffe or another subject. I won't mention the creator so people don't feel tempted to search for the diagrams. Credit will be given later.
The base has two long flaps along the axis and two small flaps perpendicular to the axis. The short flaps become the front legs, one of the long flaps becomes the neck and head and the other long flap is turned into hind legs and tail.
If someone succeeds folding a giraffe or another model please post pictures or send a message explaining the model and folding process.
The base file is at: http://www.angelfire.com/co/cubo/Girbase.pdf
Who bothers to do a giraffe?

Go ahead and fold itwolf wrote:Hmm, a base with 15 degree angles. I wonder who that might be.
Anyway, there's more potential there than long necked models. One of the long flaps could produce enough detail for a bird's head (crest, beak, etc), while the two shorter ones become the wings, and the last long flap for legs and tail.
Have you tried to do any of the Vertex assigned Cp's you said you might do when you had some time?

I had no clue what to do with the head & didn't want to peek anywhere.

Your head is good enough. The original diagrams show a head but I preffer Peter Engel's giraffe head so that is the one I did in my model which i haven't posted so people make their own giraffethedeadsmellbad wrote:http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/thedeadsm ... pg&.src=ph

For those who bothered to attempt this base, the original diagrams can be found at http://digilander.libero.it/origamidauria/diagrammi.htm
