How to make a avatar?

There doesn't seem to be a way to put one in? HELP! :?

Go to the page where you can edit your profile ( the link should be located at the top of the page ).

Then scroll all the way down until you see something like this :

Image

That's where you can choose to either upload an avatar from your own computer or copy a link to your avatar.

Did you try the "Off-site" option? O:)

User Control Panel -> Profile -> Edit Avatar

I'm having trouble making my avatar a small enough file size to be accepted, does anyone have any suggestions as to the most compact file format etc.

It has to fit within a 80x80 pixel square.

It does, but my file data size is outside the limits.

Oh yes, the file-size must not exceed 6 kB.

I think GIF or PNG would make it smaller. Do not use BMP.

Yes, jpg, gif and png make smaller pictures than bmp and changing the dpi helps as well. If you need a handy little program to get the file size down, I can recommend Irfan View.
