Re: How to insert pictures
Well, i put the url of the picture (big version not icons, you'll know what i mean if you look at neorigami) between the (img) and (/img) thingies, did text after the images, a few lines down, and previewed the post to check it had worked and it said, in bold red text, just above the subject box "could not determine the size of the image". I've given as accurate a description as i can, i hope it's sufficient to give me useful advice.

if you'd like to show different sized pictures, you have to upload them with different sizes. thats what gerado said with his page filling entry. if you want to show a medium size picture, upload a medium size picture.
2nd
is it possible to show an high resolution picture with dimensions of 400x400 (for instance)?
no.
the only way to accomplish this is either using the thumbnailing function of an image hoster or to upload the image at with the dimensions
Gerado did it the same way
medium size:
http://neorigami.com/neo/media/k2/items ... 1341_M.jpg
lage size
http://neorigami.com/neo/media/k2/items ... 1341_L.jpg
= two different pictures.
3rd
how do I cut down the size of a picture to a specific size?
beside the usage of an image editing software you could misuse image-shack to do it for you
just upload the picture to image shack and use the build in picture resizer. than you download the new picture an put it wherever you'd like to.
I resized this picture
http://www.pathefilms.ch/libraries.files/ImWinter10.jpg
with only a few clicks to this picture

Re: How to insert pictures
Most picture hosting services already offer you various sizes after uploading the picture in original size (f.e. flickr, Neorigami,...). Non the less it is advisable to resize the picture before uploading because otherwise uploading needs far more time.
Re: How to insert pictures
It's not the size, although the fault's in the size, that seems to be causing the problem. The forum can't tell what the size is. I've seen much bigger and smaller pictures on posts on this forum. The fault message that comes up is "cannot determine the size of the image", not, "the image is too big" or similar. The pictures are on pages with more than just the image i want on them, and not all of the others are links or thumbnails so how does the forum tell which one i want? I think the problem is in that.

Re: How to insert pictures
Yes, you have to link to the picture directly and not to the page it is hosted on. The Forum can not know which picture you want to show, you have to tell it specifically. Usually it works if you right click on the image and choose "copy picture url" (the text might depend on the browser you use) and paste this link to your post. Most picture hosting services offer those links right next to the pictures so you can copy and paste them without right clicking on the pictures.
Re: How to insert pictures
Thanks! I'll try that! That's probably what i was doing wrong and am about to get right, but if it isn't, it'll be one of the many things that i was getting wrong. I'm on my phone for this post, so i'll try it out next time i'm on a computer. Thanks again!

Re: How to insert pictures
whenever I try to post a pictur it says "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image" Why?
Re: How to insert pictures
That error message usually comes when you try to post a picture larger than 640x640 pixels in size. Most picture hosting sites offer different sized pictures, so you may just choose a smaller one. For Flickr the ending _z before the .jpg resizes to the correct size. For Google+-Photos the width and hight part can just be replaced by s640 to get the correct size.

Re: How to insert pictures
I tried to resize the picture as small as 314 x 210 pixels but it still did that and in the image link there isnt a .jpg or _z.
Re: How to insert pictures
Images have to have the ending .jpg .gif .png otherwise the system isn't able to know they are pictures. So if your link doesn't have this ending it is no direct link and can therefore not be displayed as picture. If you show me the link here without tags I might be able to help you further.

Re: How to insert pictures
Okay, here's the thing: That's no direct link to a picture but to a web page.
What you have to do is this: On the bottom right of the black part of the screen there is a symbol that looks like an arrow coming out of a box. Click that arrow. A pop-up window appears with a link and a drop-down menu. Unfortunately they don't offer the medium 640 size any more, but you can choose medium 500. This will give you the following link to copy and paste here:
If you want the picture to be as big as possible on the Forum (in this case it won't get much bigger since the source is smaller that 640x640 pixels, but well) you can add an _z just before the .jpg like that:
Here is what it will look like in the end:

The important part of this link is actually this one:
It is the direct link to the picture that the Forum needs. The remaining (unnecessary) stuff is added by flickr to make the picture clickable to link back to your photo-stream and add some also clickable text below the picture.
