Square with defect

Post by diogot »

Hi guys, I ordered origami paper online and the paper came with a "square" with 3 mm square more or less. And now with that defect ( when I make the diagonals that 2 cm appear thats what I mean..) How do I get a perfect square out of it? I don't even think that the sides are paralel :\
Help me please! Thanks for you time! :)

Best thing will be if you make a really square template from cardboard or hard plastic that is just a little bit smaller than the paper you got and use it to draw on a perfect square. Then cut out the square's with a sharp knife and a steel ruler on a cutting mat.

Try this: Crease one diagonal, then the other using the first crease as reference , not the corners of the new crease (mountain folds make better references than valley folds, in my opinion, make sure to flatten the paper as much as possible after unfolding). If you measure and mark each diagonal from the centre at equal length, very accurately, then connect those marks, you should get a good square. This allows you to minimise paper loss. Hope that makes sense. It works for me, just be as accurate as you can!
