Dollar Bill Crab

Post by glsr »

I need help. I am new to the forum and new to origami and like most new folders I picked up a book and started folding the most difficult pieces. Actually I did make a couple of pieces that I found on You Tube and then I picked up Won Parks book and folded a crab. No mater what I did I could not follow some directions but since there were pictures I fudged a bit and made a pretty good crab. Since I had to fudge it a bit I wanted to see if I could do better. I picked up John Montroll's book Dollar Origami because he had a crab in it. Here there are diagrams but since they are line drawings they were a bit harder for me to follow. I know I was right until # 21. I believe I am folding the next group, #22 through 25 correct but folding half back up does not give me what I assume is the same side of the bill showing. It goes downhill after that.I understand how to get the top correct in # 27 but I don't get the side folds. They do not seem to fit with the section that forms the legs and are behind the drawing. #28 and 29 are my real problems. The left and right vertical lines seem to go up at about a 60 degree angle In # 29 the vertical lines have been folded back so they are at a 90 degree angle straight up from the narrowest width in # 28. That shouldn't be a problem but you are supposed to fold the top over and form the claws. I don't understand how the legs and claws can be wider than the straight sides of the body. Looks like the rest would be real easy but that figure #29 has me stumped. Does this make sense to anyone on the list? Can you help me?
