Noboru Miyajima's Raccoon tail

Post by Brutus »

Hi all,

I folded both the baby and the "common" racoon from CP. The baby is fine but for the last one i'm stuck with finishing the tail as it has some tricky color changes. Also, there seems to be an ear that is color changed which is even more puzzling me. Has anybody tried this one yet?

cp's:
common raccoon
baby

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the ear on the left? I think that is just a shadow. It would be strange to have one gray ear and a black one. :?
Whenever I do complex Origami I get this sinking feeling.

I have to agree... it might be a shadow... but it really does look like a color change ear too! it also would be cool if it was. hehe! sorry, i cant help with this though. not very good with CP's yet.

If you looked at the different views, you will find that it is in fact a colour change. To change views, click the picture a couple times.

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

The ear is not color changed, though it does seem to be. The ears are formed using (I'll try to describe this the best I can) the part in the upper left corner that appears to be part of a bird base, the top of the would-be bird base is sunk and the ears are the the two corners of the sunken area. I haven't actually tried this, I'm just making an assumption based off the crese pattern.

The baby raccoon has the same head.

if there's no color change then my ears are ok, i thought one ear was black because it looks black in 2 photos from different angles.

I've been trying some more with the tail but now it looks more like it has been hit by a car.

basically, to get the stripes correct on the tail(assuming you have collapsed the cp correctly) you mountain fold the sides of the tail behind. Then you pleat the tail to make the stripes more rectangular. Next you mountain fold the model in half behind and crimp the tail up. finally you sink the bottom of the tail and reverse the tip in. and you're done :D
