Post by Arhang »

Hi,
Is there any way you can create triangles from square paper (for 3d origami modelling?)
or it HAVE to be rectangle paper?

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "3D triangles" (by definition,"triangles" are two-dimensional), but if you're looking for polyhedra with triangular sides, I think Montroll's book A Constellation of Origami Polyhedra has some.

I believe they are referring to the "Golden Venture Folding Triangular Units" used in the modular models often called "3d origami". The standard instructions call for 4x1 strips to make the modules. While you could just fold the squares into quarters first, it would waste a lot of paper.
