That's funny, Jared!!!
I'm busy refolding my take on a "Panther". Will post pics when finished.
A Black panther is actually a leopard with melanism, which means the coat and fur contains a large amount of the dark pigment, melanin. They were once viewed as a separate species, but are now linked to leopards.

Black Panther
Designed from an uncut square Sept 2007
This panther was folded from purple paper, like Grayskull's panther from the He-Man cartoons years ago!!

Detail showing feet, teeth and whiskers

I think you just need to slender the waist up, and maybe give more definition to the forelegs. Bend the tail into a curve and maybe slim it down too. I like the hind legs and the head though. It's getting there.

Get rid of the whiskers! They're way too thick and kinda look like horns.
I've fallen down, and I can't get up.

I agree, the whiskers make it look odd.

I think that the angle of the photo is confusing. Maybe a few photos with the panther at eye level might reduce the "rat effect."
The eye level photo may also reduce the whisker effects. Or you might try rabbit-ears (on a panther ?
to reduce the size of the whiskers. Or just eliminate.
As far as leopard vs. panther ... vs. jaguar - Fishgoth is taxonomically correct that "panther" is the more general, encompassing term for many types of cats.... So, I will confuse the issue (which may clarify for some people, you never know )
Colloquially, a panther, mountain lion, cougar, and puma are names for the same type of cat in different areas of the USA... and I have lived in all of those areas, and been appropriately confused. Most people understand "mountain lion" , but it is strange to see a "mountain" lion on some of the very flat coastal islands of the south east USA.
However, in general, imprecise conversation, a panther is a solid color. But a leopard has spots and a jaguar ringed spots. The black varieties also have spots, which are difficult to see.
[This information is for entertainment purposes and is not meant to imply any type of diagnosis, even though I am a doctor.]
Regardless, I like the black panther... even with the whiskers.

Wow. two posts in a row, both by doctors. Doctor Fishy (Stephen) and doctor Hank.
Thanx for the input, Hank. I'll have to refold it and "disprove" that rat-theory!

aha! my(animal-intelligent)brother told me that leopards and servals can suffer from a problem which creates too much black pigment!
