Hi,

I am trying to fold this model Heart box by Robin Glynn. I am stuck at step 22 for the box part as the paper seems to be short to make it into the pocket. Is it because i am using a US letter size paper? I don't have an A4 size paper. Can somebody help me with this? I was planning on making this as a gift for my mom and some friends for Mother's Day!

Also if I want to use a good quality wrapping paper to make it, how can I cut it to A4 size. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The problem is definitely that you are using a wrong sized paper:
A4 has the proportions 210mmx297mm whereas Letter is 8,5inx11in (216mmx279mm) which is definitely shorter.

A-sized paper has the proportions 1:sqrt(2). If you want paper in that size you can either measure it or use the following instructions to get A-sized paper from a square: http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/a4.pdf

There was one more thing i did. I created an A4 size image in Photoshop and then played with it a little. Now I can use the US letter size paper but just have to cut the short side to 7.75" to make it the same proportion as A4.

Here's another way to get A format paper (perhaps you know or it has been mentioned, but...). Take a square, get the diagonal. Draw a circle with mid. pt. at one of the diagonals start corners with radius equal to the length of the squares size. Draw a line parralel to the paper's side and through the point where the circle and diagonal intersect. The biggest piece is A format.

Actually, if you think it through, this is exactly what you do fold-wise in both of the instructions posted earlier.
Plus it works for any kind of rectangle, not only squares
