R. Lang Goatfish Step 57 (Origami Design Secrets)

Hello,
So, I'm studying the book Origami Design Secrets from R. Lang.
But now I'm stuck on step 57 of the Goatfish. (page 127)
The explanation goes "Refold, making the creases on the front side match the creases on the far side".
But what I understand from it, it has to be some sort of skewed(complex) double sink.
I have managed to replicate the fold in a simple water bomb base.
However, in this model can't be opened up like a water bomb base and the only option (I can see) is to just squish everything in. Which looks bad and messy. And I think the following steps don't work for me because I can't get this step right.
Any tricks on doing step 57 simple and elegantly?
Thank you very much!
