On the first step of the Pawn you are supposed to flip each flap inwards. I don't understand what happens here. Can anybody help me?

First, you may want to include the url of the model http://www.josephwu.com/Files/PDF/chess.pdf

But basicaly you wrap around the front flap and tuck it insude. You will have to work with the paper to get the flaps inside. You will have to reverse the folds on the top of the flap from vally's to mountain's.

Hope that helps, I may be able to post pictures...

Thanks for the help. It was a bit tricky, but I got it to work at last.
But the pawn doesn't look like the picture at the end in the PDF-file.

Well if you read the text under the pictures you will see that Joseph says that was an earlier version of the pawn, actually it is just as easy to make. If you just make the folds in step two valleys. You just fold the points down and let the inner points come out of the model and flip up vertical. I think that is what happened in the picture. Joseph would know better though :)
