Help with Konrad's cube tessellation?

I came upon Ralf Konrad's beautiful tessellations a few days ago, and I'm in awe. I keep trying to fold this one in particular, but every time I think I have it figured out, I don't. I can see that it's probably a series of hex twists? Has anyone done this who might have some tips?

Just by looking at it, I think it's probably a series of waterbomb analogs. I might be able to post a picture of what I mean sometime this weekend.

Just make a bunch of squashed triangles and then rearrange the triangles in couples. It is really that simple.
