Shuki Kato flying hercules beetle step 55

Hello everyone!
So i've been attempting to fold the flying hercules beetle by shuki kato in the book origami masters: bugs.
In step 55 there is a waterbomb base locked behind the flaps, but there is no way to fold it out and forward and up because when you open sink it, it is still locked in, could someone please help? thank you!
