Hey, I think I can help you a little bit with this :
To collapse the legs (This is how I did it), start by making all the valley and mountain folds that forms the small triangle parts (which are basically sinks) and around them as well, but do not fully collapse right now. Fold the large bottom part of the square up and make the horizontal pleats on the part that looks like a small grid (which is NOT a sink). It is only then that you will be able to start forming the vertical pleats. Finally, collapse everything as best as you can. The bottom right edge of the square should lie adjacent to the lower right edge, same for the left side. And the legs aren't even the hard part  ...
Here's some final advice on the rest of the model : if you are ever in doubt about how to collapse some part, pay close attention to the mountain/valley folds on the CP. Also, I sure hope you used very strong and thin paper for this or else it will become incredibly thick, mostly on the bow of the apron (or however you call that) part. Well then, I hope my instructions weren't too confusing. Good luck with this and be sure to post pics of the finished result!

You can always download the Reference Finder program on Robert Lang's site. It's really helpful for any grid divisions. By the way, the grid size is 52x52, not 56x56.

If this is live issue yet you can look at a sort of photodiagram that I just uploaded on my flickr page.
