Hi there, i tried to make the rose by John Szinger
http://www.zingman.com/origami/oriPics/ ... agrams.swf
but somehow i got stuck on step 21. I dont know how to make the reverse fold to make the "rose" look like in the diagram in step 22. If someone could help me .. post some pics or videos showing the progress or anything.. i would appreciate it.
thanks

It seems like it's like the "squash fold" in Kawasaki's original rose...
Just flatten the flaps on existing creases, making sure to keep them 3D.
If this doesn't work, keep in mind I have never seen this rose before...

Hmm i tried it out and it succeeded, that step isnt hard, those are squash folds, as Fanatic said.
Though i won't use copypaper for it next time

I think I have (sort of) figured out a way, how to finish the fivefold rose. I'm not sure, if it's completely according to the John Szinger's diagram (I've been only able to follow that up till the 22nd step) - I kind of improvised a lot as I wasn't sure, what the diagram is showing. However I've managed to close up the bottom of the rose and that's (I guess) what the last few steps were about. If anyone wants help, do not hesitate to contact me on my mail hivalien@gmail.com :) Hope this doesn't make me sound all bossy and stuff.

John updated the diagrams for this model in his ebook published earlier this year. The Fivefold Rose is now 50 steps.

I published the ebook to Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and Apple iBooks.

See my sig for a link.
And if you happen to be at oUSA 2011 in NYC, Szinger will be there and is very approachable.
