Maekawa's Fractal Pyramid from Tanteidan Convention #4

Post by Brimstone »

After step 11 I am lost. What does step 12 mean? The way the interior of that box like area in step 11?

Then come steps numbered 5n+14 what happens on it?

Step 5n+15 is this the whole paper completely unfolded or is it the result of some magic move on step 5n+14?

Thanks in advance.

In genuine origami there are better diagrams for this model. I have folded sometime this model, but now I do not have the book close to me in order to explain this step.

Here's a really rough explanation of what's going on:
13) repeat steps 8-12 as many times as you want
14) tuck in, then fold the corners down against the diagonal to form a square edge.
15) fold a waterbomb base from the resulting square. Nothing is unfolded, it is the result of step 14.
16) repeat on other flaps
17) fold the flaps in the other direction to erase the crease memory, so they won't be bent when you open the whole model up.
18) open the model, pulling the point shown outward. this is shown in the right hand in step 19.
19) fold the inside of the flap over to the side, bringing the point from step 18 back down towards the center. repeat on the other sides.

Hi Andrew, thank you very much for answering my question.

I'm surely missing something because:

13. This step shows the same area as in step 8 so I do not understand where the sequence 8-12 should be repeated.

14. Thanks for the help, I hadn't seen the pocket where to tuck the flap in.

16. Repeat what?
