Hello everyone :D
Has anyone made this spider? http://bmktcn.com/blog/dinhtuyen/wordpress/?m=200709
I'm stuck on step 6. I don't understand how they get the star shape.
This is how far I got

Please help
Thank you

However, it looks like you inside-reverse fold all the flaps, and step 7 is possibly in 3D...

Thank you Falcifer for answering my post.
I've fixed the photo :D
I don't understand how they get the 4 pointed star shape in step 7 and , from that, how to make the shape in step 8.
When I reverse fold the points I don't get the exact shape as in step 8. I get this :(

Turn it upside down. ;-)
Step 7 is a 3D view, slightly from the top, which is why it looks how it does.

For step 8, bring the top and bottom points together, but from the back.

So, flatten out the star shape, making sure it's symmetrical, then fold in half, but mountain fold it, rather than valley folding it in half.

:? Now I am stuck on step 11. I don't understand what to fold there at all. Does it mean to fold it in half?

I'm glad you got past the other steps, but I knew you'd be back for this step! ;-)

Unfortunately, I haven't figured it out myself yet... I'll be sure to post back if I do, though.
I'm just looking at the layers in step 12 and trying to figure out how to get my model to look the same.

I am back. Did you understand how to make the step? I am still stuck.

No I haven't yet. But I do think that the problem lies at an earlier step.

Step 8 shows that all the 4 lower points on each side are separate. But on my model (and, probably, yours too) all the points are wrapped inside the outermost layer, so they aren't exactly like the picture in step 8.

I think step 11 just involves moving two layers to the left and two to the right. But with the layers not being "free", it's not possible.

So I'm trying to figure out how to arrange the layers to get my model to look like step 8.

Okay, so I was wrong about Step 7-8.
You don't fold it in half in the way that I said.

It's hard to explain, but I'll try...

From the star shape in Step 7:
• There are two flaps ("loose flaps") between each point of the star ("points")
• Position each pair of "loose flaps" so that they are next to the left and right "points"
• Flatten the star shape, maintaining the position of the flaps

You now have a square. You have to form a preliminary base with the topmost layers:
• Bring the left and right "points" to meet the bottom "point"
• At the same time, bring the top "point" to meet the same bottom "point"

All of the top "loose flaps" should swing up, and you should end up with an upside-down triangle, with the four "points" all together at the bottom and four "loose flaps" together on the right and four on the left.

Flip the model over from top to bottom, and you'll have the model as it appears in Step 8.

I hope this is clear enough to follow...

Have I done it right?

I don't understand the next steps either. At step 11 do I fold it in half?
I'm not sure how to make the shape in step 12 and the steps 16 and after look very difficult. Please help me to finish it.

Looks right so far.

Step 11 = Move two flaps to the back (on one side) and two to the front (on the other side).

The pictures from step 16 onwards a re more 3D-ish views, so the legs won't actually be pointing upwards like that.

Step 16 involves some swivel folds - blue = mountain, red = valley.
You fold the left and right parts in half, and at the same time tuck the middle parts underneath.
17 = inside reverse folds
18 = inside reverse folds
19 is just folding behind

The rest is relatively simple, I think. But my model had some extra paper on the legs, so I couldn't separate them properly in the final steps.

If you get stuck again, you'll have to wait, unfortunately. If you do get stuck, post here, and I'll have another go at folding it, but it won't be tonight.

Thank you
I don't know what to do after step 19. I'm not sure I did it right. Here's how I did it:

Please post some photos, if you can, of how you made yours.

Okay, I've folded it.

I took some photos and created a set on Flickr. There are 30+ photos, which are set to private, but I'm hoping that the guest pass link works okay.

Click on "Detail" (under where it says "Spider photos") to get a better view of the photos. The instructions are in the image titles, so you shouldn't have to look at each image individually, although you should be able to if you want a closer look.
