On step 17, I'm not really sure what Robert Lang means to do a "closed wrap"
So in step 23 this triangular point is there where there shouldn't be any, and when I tried to remove it by sinking it, it interfered with the fold on step 23.

The closed wrap is simply bringing paper in front of the petal fold...like this:




This lets you fold down the paper easily on step 18. This might also solve your problem in step 23, in which you swing the behind bottom two points underneath to the top.
