I just folded all the sides, but I'm having trouble flattening the sunken top in Step 17. Can someone whose made one successful please provide pictures of that step or any advice would help? I'm be terrified if I accident ripped the paper.

I have made this one before and when you flatten out that part, the middle point is very "worn", but do not be scared. Use confidence and practice because that part gets hidden anyway! i used some homemade tissue/tissue mc paper and the result was nice. That is because you can make it skinny and really "mold" a few details... like the legs and antennae.. I couldnt get them to stay nice without twisting them into shape.
My point is do not be scared

many origami moves are fluid and just kinda happen, so use smooth movements, center yourself, and do not hesitate when you make your move! It is true however to inspect your work and visualize the outcome before you do make a move also.
So to summerize: Plan, Visualize, Be Smooth, and Stop 'trying' to fold the paper Neo, and fold it!
