Captain Scarlet - style hat

Post by zackspacks »

Hi all
I am going to try to make a set of full-sized Captain Scarlet style hats, and thought I would use my new origami skills to do this. The clear visor is obviously a problem, but I am tempted to just have a solid visor ( or stick something on afterwards, but that sounds a bit tricky ). In theory I think the base hat should be easy to make, but being a novice I have really struggled with this. Can anyone give me a few pointers please ?

Here is a picture of the hat style:

Lastly, and probably even more difficult, I was wanting to make a Capt Scarlet Angel hat. I was thinking of leaving the clear areas as blank. Again, not sure how I could fold something and keep it rigid in the weird shape of the helmet. Any ideas guys ?

Many thanks !

Maybe this is a stupid question, but what's the point of a clear visor? :?

For the angel hat, you should use Wet Folding to give it a nice curved shape. The search function of the forum should bring up lots of results on how to do that.
